H-Forms Stucco
H-Forms Stucco System History
In 1986 we introduced the first ever foam block which our principals brought over from Germany and started a whole industry!
We had a booth at The Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC) in San Francisco, where the walls of our booth were built of the blocks. We won "Product of the Show" and got a ton of press: maybe too much. The biggest lesson from the show was from being consistently asked, "How do you apply stucco to the foam?" Sadly, we could not really answer that question so soon after the show, we hired a stucco design consultant from San Diego to help us formulate a product that would chemically bond to foam and could be trowelled or sprayed on. Having found the right formulae, we needed to reinforce the products, so we experimented with mesh, trying to include short fiberglass strands in the mix but eventually, at the request of many stucco contractors, settled using rolls of mesh. We took our formulae and went to our local stucco experts, King Stucco, of San Jose, and we founded a company called Bullet Coatings, with the specific intent of providing the construction industry with products to literally cover the emerging markets of ICFs and the new process of sheathing wood and metal studs with sheets of foam for insulation purposes.
We did not realize it at the time but we had created the first synthetic thin-coat cementitious stucco.
